Not sure it's for me

The book does give some background information on resitance soldering, but mainly details construction of a home-made unit. I am not qualified to assess it for safety etc. It offers 3V or 6V output. I am not sure that 3V is low enough for work smaller than about 0 scale, as online demos of the London Road unit indicate 1.5V or 2V is safer for the small components.

Covers many people’s needs

What the book does, it does well. It would help anyone with household electrical skills to build an RSU for small metal models. Too many people are scared of soldering because it looks easy to get wrong: resistance soldering makes it easy to get right :-)
Personally, my projects need more than 10A current, so I am looking for both a higher-current transformer, and ways to control that extra current.
Since reading this book, I have bought a Chinese Variac (variable auto-transformer) online. It works very well as a current controller on the Mains side, BUT it needs rewiring for safe, legal use in Europe.
(Which is why I can’t just say “Buy a Variac to make your Resistance Soldering even easier.”)
